Ogie is my little mouse friend that I wrote a confidential note to on the July 24th, "Buddycatcher" post. Oh, let me just start from the beginning...Dr. Josh's office called one day and said someone had dropped off a mouse that they couldn't take care of. He had something wrong with his eye and the fur on one side of his face. He was very shy about showing that side of his face, kind of like Quasimoto and the Phantom of the Opera. Dr. Josh and everybody named him Ogelthorpe after my TV rats, Preston and Ogelthorpe. They started treating him to make his face better and started looking around for a permanent home for him. Mommie and I got kind of attached to him and tried to help them find a place for Ogie to live. We didn't have a lot of luck...that's when I wrote to Ogie on the blog to apologize for "missing the boat" on finding him a new home. It turned out there were a few more boats...AND WE MISSED THEM TOO!!! I thought we were going to have to find him a pal and build him an ark! And since I've gotten carried away on boat metaphors...it looked like it was "TITANIC CITY" for Ogie!
Dr. Josh started thinking Ogie wasn't going to get any better...but suddenly he started improving. So we kept looking for a new home for Ogie, with still no luck. Most people that weren't "creeped out" by pet mice had a cat. Then one day I found out the library in Mommie's hometown had 3 pet mice. They said he could come live with them. While Ogie was still getting better, some other mice snuck in and took his spot at the library. HOW RUDE IS THAT?! Mommie and I didn't want to tell Ogie, OR Dr. Josh and everybody there about it, so we continued the search. One of Mommie's best friends came through for us and found a family for him to live with, also in her hometown. He's living with Holly and her son Ben and his brother and sister...AND a whole crew of animals. They have 2 little rat girls, and lots of dogs and cats. They used to have chickens too! Rumor has it their might be a snake or two, but let's hope that is just a rumor, or that they will never meet. I think he will be really happy there.
So, last week Mommie took him to his new home. He got to ride in the car with her and listen to music, much louder than he was probably used to. He LOVED it! He had a lot of shreaded paper in his cage he hid under, and when the new song by the "Goo Goo Dolls" REAL, came on, Mommie said the paper started shaking like Ogie was jammin' to the music. Then the song went off and he poked his head out like he wanted some more tunes. Then the "Smashing Pumpkins", the "Red Hot Chili Peppers", "Pearl Jam", "Green Day" and the "Foo Fighters", among others, came on. He BOOGIED THROUGH THEM ALL! He's just a "new era GRUNGE MOUSE"! Good taste I might add. Ogie, you are just a "happenin' little mouse!
Now, Mommie and I would like to thank Dr. Josh, Dr. H., Tiffany, Sarah, Jamie, Matt, Doreen and Marlaina (and probably more people we don't know) for taking such great care of our little friend, as I'm sure Ogie is very grateful too. Most people wouldn't have done as much as they did for a tiny mouse. I know they will miss the little guy, well, most of them will, but I hear they WON'T be missing cleaning out his cage. He's just a little "poop machine". I should have hired him to work with me at my fertilizer business.
Since Ogie turns out to be such a "music mouse", Mommie and I picked out a few songs for him to add to my "ipawd" playlist. The first one is "Looking for Space" by John Denver, one of Mommie's favorite songs. The "element of space" has been a pretty hot topic around here, as well as trying to find a new space for Ogie...and really, just who doesn't love John Denver?! The other one's are songs we thought Ogie could really "get down" to. The last one..."All for You" by Sister Hazel, is for Ogie and Dr. Josh, and all the other peeps I mentioned above from the animal hospital.
Well, Ogie...congrats on your new digs, maybe Mommie and I can come visit sometime. Soooooooooo... ROCK ON, OGIE...YOU THE MOUSE, DUDE!!!
Love, Freddie Girl and Mommie
